Main Street Morgantown (MSM) is excited to announce that it has received a 2013 Flex-E-Grant. The Flex-E-Grant was awarded to MSM by the West Virginia Development Office in the amount of $8,000 to conduct a Downtown Morgantown Retail Feasibility Analysis.
This funding will allow MSM to hire a consultant to evaluate the existing retail climate of downtown Morgantown and identify potential additional retail and residential needs. This project will identify strategies to implement the findings of the feasibility study.
The outcome for this project will be a completed retail feasibility study of the downtown. This project is being conducted by MSM to complement the Downtown Residential Feasibility Study that MSM completed recently.
The goal of the Downtown Residential Feasibility Study was conducted to analyze potential for real estate acquisition and development within downtown, complete an inventory of available development sites, assess market feasibility for downtown housing, and create an implementation plan for MSM and the City of Morgantown for the recruitment of large-scale, mixed-use housing. These items were completed and outlined in a residential feasibility study of the downtown by Bowen National Research. This project was executed under funding by the 2012 Flex-E-Grant.
