This summer, Main Street Morgantown (MSM) has applied for funding through the Growing Healthy Communities Grant Program and the Neighborhood Investment Program (NIP).
MSM’s application to the Growing Healthy Communities Grant Program was created in collaboration with Morgantown Board of Parks and Recreation (BOPARC), Mon River Trail Conservancy and the River Town Program with the goal of creating a safe passageway and effective wayfinding to direct visitors and residents between the Mon River/Caperton/Deckers Creek Trail trailhead, the Downtown Wharf and Downtown Morgantown. Together, these organizations aim to improve lighting in this underpass, establish the underpass as a pedestrian-only zone, and create signage leading to and from the trail. Main Street Morgantown attended the 2014 Governor’s Awards on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 5 p.m. at the State Capitol Complex’s Culture Center in Charleston.
At the event, Main Street Morgantown was awarded a Main Street Innovation Award worth $1,500 to begin implementing its new rebranding program. Additionally, Main Street Morgantown’s executive director, Terri Cutright, was recognized at the awards ceremony for her 25 years of service to MSM, and MSM’s “volunteers of the year” were recognized for their outstanding contributions to the organization.
